“During our walk along Offa’s Dyke Trail, we happened into Longtown for the night. The region was hosting an art festival of sorts, which is when we saw one of Helen’s pieces. Loving her style , my husband contacted her to paint a piece for my birthday. After a Zoom chat and after forwarding a couple of photos from our walk, we have a cherished collaboration that both celebrates our Welsh experience and the special beauty of the region’s landscape.
I cannot recommend Helen enough. Beautiful art, a willingness to craft a one of a kind piece, and a hospitable spirit. Commissioning and a receiving our painting was a breeze. ”
When you commission an artwork, you’re looking for a piece that’s perfect for you, your home and your lifestyle.
My job is to listen carefully to what you want and create something unique and previously unseen.
Though you’ll undoubtedly get an artwork with my trademark style, this piece of work will be special to you and only you.
“Joan wanted something bespoke to give to Cathy, her daughter, for her 60th. The Orkneys is Cathy’s new home so I researched the wild shorelines and created this palette knife painting in mixed media. I delivered the framed piece in person to make sure it was ready for a very special celebration.”
Next steps
Book a meeting using the form below – we will cover concept, share source photographs (if you have any) and note any particular requests that you’d like me to interpret. Ideally this will take place here at Skirrid Gallery, in your home where you plan to hang the piece, or on Zoom. You may want to show me a special landscape…
I’ll give you a quote based on size and framing choices – for example, a 12 x 16 inch painting is £420 framed – and, once agreed, we’ll sign a short contract stating how I work and what you can expect.
Make a 50% deposit to secure the commission.
Your work can be picked up or delivered by courier (at cost price) to your property no later than 3 months from the date you made a deposit. I usually only need a month to complete your commission, especially if it’s not the school holidays. ;)
Towards the end of my process I will send you photos of the work, close to completion. At this point we aim to agree the work is complete or discuss any minor adjustments if needed. Then I will organise delivery or suggest a pick up date, and send the final invoice for outstanding fees (50% of agreed price).
‘We are so delighted with our painting. Helen was approachable and friendly and spent time talking to us about our vision for the picture we had in mind.
We essentially wanted a larger version of a smaller print we had viewed in her gallery and the result was really beautiful – with enough difference to make the piece truly unique’.
